Remembering Mike Moran

Mike Moran Moran in hatMike Moran 2

SPUC lost a loyal friend when Mike Moran passed away in March.  Dr. Moran was a founding father of SPUC, serving on the board and Program Committee for five years.

There is no way to fully describe the dedication Mike Moran had to his family, friends, colleagues, patients and SPUC. Dr. Moran was an amazing pediatrician and person. He was often the first one to arrive for meetings or clinical shifts and was always willing to support those around him.

He was a strong advocate for children and spent part of his early career at Children’s Mercy Kansas City working in the child abuse and neglect clinic. He later became the Medical Director for Children’s Mercy Northland Urgent Care. Dr. Moran provided remarkable clinical care to the patients and families he served. Mike Moran left many of his colleagues speechless observing his extraordinary bedside manner and efficiency.

Mike’s guidance and strong, caring presence will be greatly missed.  SPUC will carry on his legacy through a new award… the Mike Moran Scholar Award.  The new award will be presented annually to a pediatric resident or fellow training in the field of pediatric urgent care.  Details of this award will be unveiled during the 2019 conference in Fort Worth.
